This oil painting of the Transfiguration, part of a series of twelve Feasts of the Church, was damaged by a flood. The whole work was damaged, the worst areas disintegrated. As for art work in need of restoration, it really doesn't get any worse than this. All of the canvases had to be re-lined with new linen, extensively cleaned, lost areas filled in, frames restored. Despite such extensive damage it came out good as new.
