Saint Joseph's Fine Arts Studio is the studio of artist Mark Sassani. Here he creates his own works, paints commissioned works, teaches classes, and restores paintings and statues with a few assistants.
In 1994 he remodeled his studio, located at the corner of Fourth & Chestnut Streets in Mt. Carmel, PA. He christened it St. Joseph’s Fine Art Studio, reflecting on the aspirational model of fatherhood and an abiding belief in the Almighty.
Mark is a native of Northumberland County, PA. A lifetime interest in art became the foundation for his education that enhanced his skills, his teaching, and his career as a professional artist. A graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School, he studied art at Mansfield University. He returned to his hometown to teach art at Mount Carmel where he guided thousands of students in exploring their artistic interests. Through this mentoring role he was exposed to a broad variety of media and forms of expression, becoming a more well-rounded artist himself.
In his professional career, while he worked in a wide range of drawing and painting media, he also honed his skills in art restoration.
During his years as a student, and throughout his professional career Mark has earned numerous awards for his work. His fine art expression consists mainly of colorful landscapes of east-central and northern-tier Pennsylvania. Play of light, color, compositional movement, balance and beauty are essential to his art.
Along with his easel work he has completed a large number of commissioned works and art restorations for churches, private corporations and individuals.
Over the last four decades Mark has marshaled his talents to produce outstanding fine art, commissioned art, murals, and art restorations.
He routinely conducts art classes for adults and young students, from full courses of study to painting parties.
He has garnered the attention of those who appreciate the value and high quality of his work with many repeat customers for the variety of art services he offers.
Mark lives next door to his studio with his wife Donna , their young nephew Chase, two cats, and a cheerful terrier. They have two daughters. The elder daughter Lori lives in Penopolis, Brazil where she has opened her own art school. The younger daughter Elizabeth is a graduate of Bucknell University.
Mark is Roman Catholic. He serves his church as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion and has been taking communion to the sick since 1995. He served on the parish council three times. He was twice president of the council.
Mark was an All-American wrestler and still follows the sport.
When he has the time he enjoys spending time exploring and painting along the Pine creek in northern Pennsylvania.
